Revisional Breast Surgery

For the majority of women who undergo breast augmentation , the surgery is successful and gratifying. Sadly enough, this is not true for everyone. Some women will need to undergo revisional breast implant surgery.

The most common reasons women choose revisional breast surgery is to change the size of their implants, alter the feel of their implant by switching from saline breast implants to silicone breast implants or to correct capsular contracture.In some instances, patients are simply unhappy with the appearance of their implants. Regardless of the issue, our surgeons may have a solution for you.

Although very rare, some patients need implant repair because of a rupture or deflation. With saline implants, a rupture is quite noticeable but a rupture in silicone implants sometimes can only be detected through an MRI. Either way, a ruptured implant must be replaced or removed. Often the implant manufacturer supplies warranties which cover the costs of implant replacement surgery.

Before Getting Breast Implants

To ensure satisfaction with your breast implants, it is vital to research breast implant choices and cosmetic surgeons or plastic surgeons. Make sure you are familiar with the pros and cons of saline breast implants and silicone breast implants. Research potential cosmetic surgeons and go with a surgeon you feel is trustworthy and qualified.
