Facelift Erases Years from Perceived Age

Confirming what we have seen in our Cosmetic Surgery practice for years, a study published in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery revealed that patients looked an average of 9 years younger than their actual age after receiving facial rejuvenation procedures like facelifts, eyelid lifts and browlifts.

Facelift, browlift and eyelid lift scientifically proven

During this study, researchers used the before and after photos of 60 patients, all around 60 years of age, who had undergone facial cosmetic procedures. The group of 60 patients consisted of 22 patients who had received facelift surgery, 17 patients who had received face lift surgery in addition to cosmetic eyelid lift surgery (Blepharoplasty)and 22 patients who had received facelift surgery in addition to an eyelid lift and forehead/brow lift.

Forty participants, all first-year medical students, were shown before and after photos of the 60 participants and were asked to estimate the cosmetic patients' ages before and after the surgery. Researchers found that patients who had only undergone facelift surgery looked approximately 6 years younger, patients who had undergone face lift and eyelid lift surgery looked about 8 years younger and after receiving face lift surgery in addition to eyelid lift and brow/forehead lift surgery, patients looked approximately 9 years younger.
